A follow up feature — ‘Price of trying to cheat death: £40,000’ — written by Martyn McLaughlin for The Scotsman. This one is really quite in-depth and contains some scientific detail, but again, it highlights the cost issue.  The obsession with cost is interesting: It seems to me that it may act as an efficient means by which people can quickly cancel out any inclination to countenance the idea; they can just place it on a psychological shelf marked, ‘Weird things that rich/eccentric people choose to do. ‘
